Ms. Armanda Coleman

Mrs. Armanda Coleman, 65, of Peoria, IL, transitioned to her heavenly home at 9:10 pm on Monday, July 5, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family in Peoria, IL. Armanda was born on July 14, 1955 in Leland, MS to Frank and Signora (Higgins) Shorty. She married Donald Coleman, Sr., in Peoria on January 22, 1970. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2018 after 48 years of marriage. Armanda was a homemaker. She was a feisty women. She loved playing Bingo. Armanda was very outspoken and kept it real 100%. She kept her home so clean you could eat off her floors. Armanda was very generous and would give the clothes off her back. She was a mother to many and a great best friend to others. Armanda leaves to cherish his most precious memory her son, Donald (Tonya) Coleman, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; her daughter, Kimberly Coleman of Peoria, IL; two brothers, Jessie Shorty and John (Dorothy) Shorty; three sisters, Daisy Mae Shorty, Willie Bell Dubose and Dorothy (Myron) Fox; eleven grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Coleman, Sr., one son, Christopher Coleman, her sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and the Rev. Miles Black and two granddaughters, Keishana Currie and Cherish Coleman. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Victory Christian Church with a visitation beginning at 9 am. Pastor Charles “Chuck” Brown is the host pastor, Elder Martin Johnson, Pastor of New Beginnings Ministries will officiate and grandson, Rev. Cory Pastoriza will bring words of comfort. Armanda will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com.
