Mr. George Taylor

Mr. George Taylor, 87, of Peoria, IL passed away at 11:47 am on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. George was born on November 23, 1932 in Jackson, MS to Waddie Taylor. After the death of his mother he was raised by his grandfather, Richard Taylor, uncle Walter Taylor and Aunt Estella “Aunt Cootie” Campbell. George honorably served in the US Army. Upon his return from his tour of military duty he began his career with Caterpillar, Inc. George was a member of Local Union 974 and past union representative. He was a retiree of Caterpillar, Inc., with over 30 years of service. He loved fishing, watching western TV shows and Judge Judy. As a result of his military training, George was precise and very conscious of time; he never wanted to be late. He enjoyed meeting with his buddies on Thursday mornings for Breakfast at the Maid Rite Restaurant, where they shared laughter and good times. George always had the biggest beautiful smile. He also loved a spirited argument and always loved to prove he was right. George loved his family and his grandchildren. George leaves to cherish his most precious memories, his daughters, Antoinette “Toni” Gordon of McKinney, TX and Lynne (Jerome) Costic of Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren, nine great greatgrandchildren; cousins, Henrietta Washington, Johnnetta Attman and Elaine Glore; special friends, Doris Jones, Henry Mayfield, Eddie Mann and Maurice Gwynn; his grand fur babies, Ajay and Pee Wee and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. George is preceded in death by his parents. A private funeral service will be Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 11 am at Simons Mortuary, with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard of St. Paul Baptist Church will bring words of comfort to the family. US Army Military Honors will be rendered.
