Ms. Georgia Mae Jackson

Ms. Georgia Mae Jackson, 68, of Peoria, IL passed away at 8:55 am on August 28, 2024 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home surrounded by her family. Georgia was born on July 28, 1956 in Scott, MS to Leandrew and Mary (Griffin) Jackson, Sr. The family moved to Peoria, IL from Mississippi in 1967. Georgia was educated in Peoria at Irving Grade School and graduated from Woodruff High School in 1975. Georgia was a CNA at Sharon Healthcare for 30 years. She then moved on to be a school bus monitor for Peoria District 150. Georgia also worked for PCCEO as a foster grandparent until her health declined. Georgia loved to go fishing and play Pokeno with her sisters. She was an amazing cook whose favorite dish to make was her fall-off-the-bone tender oxtails which all her family loved. She was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. She was a woman of great strength, warmth, compassion and faith. She dedicated her life to her family and community; always putting others before herself. Her unwavering kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. Georgia had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, heard and loved; often with just a smile and a kind word. Georgia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Jimmie Burnside on August 5, 2012 at Mt. Moriah M. B. Church where she was a faithful member. Georgia leaves to cherish her precious memory her three children: Taneisha (Bradley) Aeschleman of Tulsa, OK, Wade (Sierra) Jackson and Frank (Rae) Jackson both of Peoria, IL; five sisters, Mary (Kelly) Knee, Margaret (Teddy) Cooper, Virgie (Arnold) Jackson and Brenda (Tommy) Tubbs all of Peoria, IL and Ludia (Teddy) Burnside of Mapleton, IL; one brother, Daniel (Ginger) Jackson of Peoria, IL; 16 grandchildren; one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her good friends, Darlene, Alesia and Linda Bee. She is preceded in death by her parents; Leandrew, Sr., and Mary Jackson; her brothers, Leandrew Jackson, Jr., and Eddie Jackson; one sister, Janice Jackson; two nephews, Teddy Jackson and MacArthur Adams; and two nieces, Daniela Jackson and Lucretia Jackson. Georgia will always live on in our hearts. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Sovereign Grace M. B. Church with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 10 am. Host Pastor is Rev. Alvin Riley, Sr., Pastor Jimmie Burnside of Mt. Moriah M. B. Church will officiate. Georgia will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
