Ms. Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Jenkins, 57, of Peoria, IL transitioned from this life to her heavenly home at 6:22 am Saturday, February 20, 2021. Jackie was born on August 12, 1963 in Peoria, IL to the late Pastor Wess, Jr. and Christie (Young) Pollard. Jackie accepted Christ at the age of 12 years old at Morning Star M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Hightower where she was a faithful member of the Echos Choir. Jackie was a charter member of New Bethel M.B. Church under the leadership of her father, the late Pastor Wess Pollard, Jr., where she served as an Usher, Sunday School Secretary, Vacation Bible School Teacher and was a faithful and dedicated laborer with the Mission Ministry. She loved being with her grandchildren and going to church. She enjoyed watching the TV sitcom, The Golden Girls and eating her favorite candy, Starburst. Jackie leaves to cherish her most precious memories, her mother, Christie Pollard; one son, Ronald Jenkins; two daughters, Ashley (Clifton) Price and Astria Pollard; six brothers, Wess (Michelle) Pollard, III, Elder Michael Pollard, Pastor Patrick (Sharon) Pollard, Minister Anthia (Jennifer) Pollard, Brian Pollard and Joshua Pollard; two sisters, Tonya Monique and Miranda Pollard; six grandchildren, C’onte Pollard, La’Nijah Pollard, Alex Pollard, Camia Price, Kyla Price and Clifton Price, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who adored her. She is proceeded in death by her father; her daughter, Angela Pollard; grandson, Javier Pollard and granddaughter, Camille Price. A private memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at New Morning Star M.B. Church. Rev. Cleveland Thomas, Sr., is the Host Pastor. Rev. Dr. Pat Pollard Pastor, Sr., of New Bethel M.B. Church, will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. In accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Funerals are limited to no more than 25% or less people at the church. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. Funerals are limited to no more than 25% of the decedent’s immediate family members. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
