Mr. Jessie Dave Guyton

Mr. Jessie Dave Guyton, 75, of Peoria, IL transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at his home surrounded in love by his family. Jessie was born on August 28, 1949 in Blytheville, Arkansas. He was born to Marshall and Fannie Mae Guyton Sr. as one of their 18 children. Jessie was married to Emma Terrell, his beloved, on July 5, 1969, by the late Reverend Amos Abbott of Saint Paul Baptist Church. They shared more than 55 years of love and marriage, and were blessed with six children. Jessie had a strong work ethic and believed in taking care of his family. He retired in 1997, from Caterpillar, after 30 years of service. He served as a voluntary staff member at Simons Mortuary for several years. Jessie was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church for more than 50 years; where he served as an usher and hallway monitor for the AWANA Children's Program. Jessie loved traveling with his family, fishing, and collecting hats. He loved the game of football and the Chicago Bears. Jessie liked purchasing and renovating houses turning them into homes for his new renters. Jessie leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Emma Guyton of Peoria, IL; one son, Juwan Guyton of Minnesota; four daughters and a son-in-law, Raquel and Terry Lindsey of Las Vegas, Marlo Guyton of Las Vegas, Lytesa Lee of Atlanta, and Demetria Austin of Peoria. Nine grandchildren; La’Nika Terrell, LeRissa Bonner, Idres Lee, Braylin Guyton, Aalaysia Lindsey, Marciano Guyton, Anai Lindsey, Malaya Guyton and Mariah Guyton. Two brothers and a sister-in-law, Johnny Guyton of Peoria; Willie and Willie B. Guyton of Peoria. Two sisters, Mary Logan of Blytheville, and Bernice Wilkerson of Peoria. Eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his parent in-laws; one daughter, Marklia Braxton; one grandson, Amauri Lindsey; 4 brothers, and 8 sisters. The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 5, 2024 at St. Paul Peoria Church. Rev. Dr. Deveraux R. Hubbard will officiate.
