Rev. John Henry Lee, Sr., 76 of Peoria, Illinois transitioned to his heavenly home at 05:30 am on Friday, May 23, 2025, at The Loft of East Peoria, IL Rehabilitation & Nursing Home. Rev. John Henry Lee, Sr. was born on April 22, 1949, in Peoria, IL, to proud parents Willa Mae Lee and Bruce Wade. He married Lonsetta Ann Teague-Lee on March 23, 1968, in Peoria IL. Later he married Carolyn L. Myartt-Lee on May 27, 1977, in Hanna City IL. Rev. Lee attended Woodruff High School and received his G.E.D from Illinois State Board of Education. He belonged to the Carpenter Union 183 in Peoria IL. Also, he worked as a supervisor for PCCEO Weatherization Department for years. Rev. Lee confessed Christ at an early age where he attended New Morning Star Baptist Church. Later in life, he rededicated his Life to Christ, and he became an Ordained Minister at Agape Baptist Church. Later, he was installed as the Pastor of Agape Baptist Church from October 1986 until he retired on October 18, 1998. In addition, he worked as a Gospel musical engineer for WPEO Gospel station. Throughout life, Rev. Lee was well known, friendly, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music, had multiple hobbies, loved cooking, and teaching Bible Study. Surviving to cherish his memory are five sons, John H. (Cameisha Madison) Lee, Jr. of Glendale, AZ, Richard R. (Tracy) Lee and Carlos M. (Brittney) Reyes both of Peoria, IL, Prentis J. (Mary Payton) Lee of Dallas, TX, and Donald T. (Renee) Lee of Frisco TX; one daughter, Daneil Lee of Peoria, IL; four Stepsons, James Teague, Troy (Rita) Burns and Kenny Burns, all of Peoria, IL and Robert Burns, Bentonville, AR; two Stepdaughters, Teresa L. Petty of Peoria, IL, and Carolyn Lane of Modesto, CA; four brothers, Wesley (Karen) Lee of Peoria, IL, David (Tammy) Lee and Stanley Lee both of Indianapolis, IN and Rev. Wade S. (Christine) Thornton of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Patricia Ward, Ella Lee, and Diana (Gary) Johnson all, of Peoria, IL; 70 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; a host great-great grandchildren; 3 special friends, Rev. James Parkman, Mr. Gary Coon and Rev. Dewayne Fisher; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lorraine Coats; one infant brother; one sister, Wanda Thornton and two grandchildren. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
