Ms. Kathy LaVerne Kirkman

Ms. Kathy LaVerne Kirkman, 70, went home with God peacefully at 5:11 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare. Kathy was born on October 26, 1952 in Peoria, IL to Bessie Holiday and Thomas Taylor, Sr. She graduated from Manual High School in 1971. She later received an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University in June 2013. Kathy was a strong, kind loving, and determined person! She always kept a smile on her face! She volunteered as a parent at St. Patrick’s Day Care Center in the late 70’s. She, later on, would become a teacher at PCCEO Head Start for over a decade. She also kept a side job at Blue Shadows & Scorpio’s Night Club. In addition, she worked at Walmart for several years. Kathy was a one-of-a-kind special lady. Kathy leaves to cherish her most precious memories her mother, Bessie Williams of Indianapolis, IN; her three children, Cornelius (Daniela) Taylor of Stiigart Germany, Chitoya (Breonne, Sr.) Dailey of Peoria, IL and Laquanah Harris of Glenpool, OK; two brothers, Thomas Hugan and Timothy Hugan of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Beverly Jones of Indianapolis, IN, Olivia Lindsay and Tanya Hugan both of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren, Breonne Dailey, Jr., Arieon Harris-Costic, Chionne Dailey, Cheynne Taylor and Bryson Dailey; one great grandson, Kyreigh Dailey and host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded by her father; one sister, Juanita Bush; one step-sister, Melody Anderson and one nephew, Rolandro Jones, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Richwoods Christian Church with a visitation one-hour prior at 10 am. Pastor Marty Hunt will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com.
