Mr. Leon "Bootsie" Warfield Jr.

PEORIA - Leon “Bootsie” Warfield, Jr., 61, of Bloomington, IL; formerly of Peoria, IL passed away at 10:14 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at his residence. Bootsie was born March 15, 1952 in Peoria, the second son of Leon & Mildred (Comer) Warfield, Sr. He married Linda B. Johnson in 1970 and to their union two sons were born. He then married Denise Callen and two daughters were born. He later married his friend and life partner, Diane (Dotson) Herron on October 19, 2012 after 22 years of life and love together in Bloomington, IL. Bootsie attended Peoria Public Schools. He had worked at Caterpillar; last working for Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Bootsie leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his wife; Diane of Bloomington; two sons, Leon (Norena) and Laharold (Latrina) Warfield both of Peoria; daughter, Donnetta Warfield of Birmingham, AL; his mother, Mildred Smith of Norfolk, VA; four brothers, Owen (Bessie), Donnie (Gwen) Warfield both of Peoria, Victor (Sherry) Smith of Kansas City, MO and Ricardo Smith of Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Sheila Gray of Chesapeake, VA, Christine Wyatt and Billie Smith both of Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren, Jordan, Jasmine, Jafari, Jayla, Jaxson, Bryant, Devin, Alexis, Tayana, Romell, Jazmine and Jamari; three uncles, Gilbert (Billie) Comer, Arthur Comer and Marcus Comer all of Peoria; one Aunt, Ella Comer of Atlanta, GA; a sister-n-law, Mary L. Robinson of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends. He is preceded in death by his father, one daughter, Jasmine; his uncles, Milford and Harry Warfield; and his aunt who raised him, Lena Warfield. Bootsie loved his step children; Will & Jason Herron, LaTisha Johnson, Evergreen Dotson & Jitaun Williams all of Peoria & Love Callen of Atlanta, GA. Bootsie loved jazz music, politics, cowboy movies, his grandchildren, basketball, football, boxing and most of all; he loved Bar-b-que. Bootsie was known for his outspoken personality. He could talk for hours. He was very opinionated and strong willed. Bootsie will be truly missed. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Simons Mortuary with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 11 am. Pastor Fredrick Latham of Ft. Wayne, IN will officiate.
