Ms. Mamie Lee Thomas, 75, of Peoria, IL passed away at 8:15 am on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Generations at Riverview Rehabilitation, East Peoria, IL. Mamie was born on May 13, 1945 in Peoria, IL to Prentis, Sr and Estella (Sledge) Thomas. Mamie loved solving crossword puzzles and her specialty was baking cakes. She baby sat her nieces and nephews and loved her grandchildren. Mamie leaves to cherish her most precious memories, one daughter, Tonya Thomas; two sisters, Maggie Harris and Marie Walker; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Thomas, Edna Thomas and Etta Mae Thomas all of Peoria, IL; three grandchildren, Tyreese Jackson, Danielle Thomas and Keisha Thomas; one great grandchild, Brylin and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who adored her. She is proceeded in death by her parents, five brothers, James Thomas, L.B. Thomas, Fred Thomas, Prentis Thomas, Jr. and T.D. Thomas and three sisters, Estella Ellis, Dora Williams and Arvella Hall. A private funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Simons Mortuary Chapel with a visitation beginning prior at 10 am. Pastor William Preston of City on the Hill will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance, funerals are limited to 50 family members of the decedents, not including the staff at Simons Mortuary. The chapel can socially distance and seat no more than 50 or less people. All others will be able to flow through prior to beginning of the service. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services.
