Mr. Marcus Dion Gulley Sr.

Marcus Dion Gulley, Sr. was born in Peoria, IL on December 30, 1970. He departed this life at 1:22 AM on May 25, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Marcus leaves to cherish his memory - his parents, Leon and A.Margie Aldridge; his children, Marcus Dion, Jr. (DJ), Dominique and Desiree, all of Peoria IL; his grandchild, Christopher Hearn, Jr.; brother, Minister Leon (Katrina) Aldridge II of Memphis, TN; sisters Minister Tracie (Pastor Keith) Savage of Memphis, TN, Minister Aldisa Slaughter of Peoria, IL, and Juleo’n (Kedric) Meredith of Chicago, IL; his fiancée, Jessica Buhl and her children, Johnny, Quinton, Anthony and Jordyn. Also to cherish his memory are siblings of the heart Sonja, Tonya, Tammie Slaughter, those of his biological father, brothers, Will Herron III, Myron Branch, Phillip Smith, Kelvin Patterson, Kevin King (Las Vegas, NV), Jason Herron, Demetrius Herron; and sisters Evergreen Dotson, Jittaun (Raymond) Woods, April James (Tampa, FL), Maria Shon (Mike) Stallings (Battlecreek, MI), Sophia Kennedy (Memphis, TN). He also leaves to mourn his passing a large and loving family of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever remember the gift given to us in the person of Marcus Dion Gulley, Sr. His spiritual birthplace was Star of Hope Full Gospel Church. He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. as a Manufacturer Engineer II. He was a 1989 graduate of Peoria Christian School. He received his Associates Degree in General Education from ICC, and was pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin University. He was well-known and respected in the youth sport and activity arena in Peoria including coaching JFL, Basketball and Baseball Leagues. He was an active member of the Freelance Riders Motorcycle Club. Marcus was preceded in death by his biological father, Willie James Herron, Sr,. his paternal and maternal grandparents, and one brother. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Star of Hope Full Gospel Church; hosted by Bishop Joseph Johnson with the Rev. Clyde Gulley, Jr. officiating. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Marcus will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simons Mortuary. Online condolences may be made at www.simonsmortuary.com.
