Mrs. Minnie Maltilda Moredock

Mrs. Minnie Matilda Moredock of Peoria, IL at the grand age of 97, transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home at 10:20 am on Friday, November 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. Minnie was born on October 7, 1921 in Derby, Indiana to Joseph and Emma Louisa (Willett) Miles. She was the sixth child born in her family of all girls; Clara, Annie Mae, Ruth, Edith and Catherine. Her sisters and parents preceded Minnie in death. She married the one and only love of her life, Ulysses Richard Moredock in Derby, IN on January 7, 1935. They were blessed with seven wonderful children; four girls and three boys. Ulysses preceded Minnie in death in 1974 after over 39 years of marriage. Three children also preceded Minnie in death, Sandra Roberson, Farrell Moredock and Nancy Moredock. Left to mourn Minnie’s death are four children; Joseph R. (Bobbie) Moredock of West Memphis, AR, Joan Randle of Peoria, Rosiland (Danny) Swain of Las Vegas, NV and Phillip (Vickie) Moredock of Peoria; 16 loving grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is also preceded in death by three grandchildren. Minnie had many jobs in her life time, but her favorite was cooking for her family, friends and other relatives. She was known all over Peoria for her marvelous Sunday and Holiday Meals, which many of her children’s friends loved to attend. She always prepared a large meal every Sunday of her life until age 93. Her house was always full of her immediate family and often included friends or relatives who needed a place to stay. She retired from AT&T (Illinois Bell) with 30 years of service. Minnie was loved by all the people she met and will be missed immensely. A huge Thank You goes out to all who helped caring for Minnie Moredock. All the family and friends that took time to call, stop by or inquire about Minnie’s health especially the following: All of her children and their significant others; Phillip and Vicki Moredock who for the last six months have been literally Minnie’s caretakers; for Farrell Moredock who was buried a month ago; Joan Randle, Rosiland and Danny Swain and Tracey Landrum who for the last 8 years helped to care for Minnie; for the many calls and extra trips that Joseph Moredock made from his home in Arkansas to Peoria; to her grandchildren and great grandchildren that came to visit, bringing treats, chicken, candy bars and anything else Minnie requested. Big Marvin, Little Marvin, Ryan, Marcia, Denise, Tanya, Detrick, P.J., Philicia, Ebony, Keith, Eric, Dewayne, Shay, Chris, Scott, Tina, Lorna, Angie, Cookie, Candy, Patrick, his wife Sha, Makia, Ann Moredock, Gayette Murdock, Lennie Smith, who is deceased, numerous friends, neighbors and acquaintances. To those who might not have been mentioned you know who you are, thank you, thank you, thank you and may the Lord Bless you and keep you healthy and well. It takes a village to raise a child. It also takes a village to care for an elderly person in their own home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 16, 2018 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 10. Monsignor Jason Gray will be the Celebrant. Minnie will be laid to rest at St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockport, IN on Monday, November 19, 2018. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
