Mrs. Rosie Lee Jones

I am Mrs. Rosie Lee Jones better known as “Momma Jones” to most people, and made it all the way to 90 years and 10 months, and lived in Peoria, IL. I transitioned to be with my Lord at 4:10 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at my residence surrounded by my beloved family. I was born on February 20, 1932 in Ripley, Tennessee to Louis and Albine (Johnson) Foster. Later I married ML Jones and to that union I birth seven children. I went from Day work for the Pritzker Family to working at Caterpillar as a laborer. After retiring from Caterpillar, I went to work for District 150 as a bus monitor, for my beloved extended grandchildren. My special hobby was bowling of which I was in many leagues, I was the Secretary and Chair on the State of Illinois United Usher Board, and affectionally called the “General” of all of our family reunions. Last but not least I was an avid Chicago Bulls and Cubs fan. I leave to cherish my most precious memories four sons, Bobby (Elaine) Jones, Sr., of Romeoville, IL, one of the twins born to her Jimmie Jones of Peoria, IL, the Rev. Berwyn (Yvette) Jones of Downers Grove, IL and Brian (Antionette) Jones of Romeoville, IL; one daughter, Laurie Jones of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Nonia Eggleston of Peoria, IL, Doris Lindsey of Toledo, OH and Carolyn Rogers of Chicago, IL; My special nephew Gregory MacNeary of Peoria, IL; 16 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. I am preceded in death by my parents, Louis and Albine Foster; husband, ML Jones; sons, Billy Jones and Johnnie Jones (twin to Jimmie Jones); seven siblings, Henry Newborn, Curtis Woodson, Louis Foster, Jr., Larry “Sonny” Foster, Della Mae Moore, Brenda Faye Duffie and Patricia Foster. Lastly four grandchildren, Tramika Jones, Lamont “Pookie” Jones, Love Jones, and Antonio Glover. My funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Prince of Peace M.B. Church with a visitation beginning at 10 am. Host Pastor Simon Holly, Jr., will officiate and Rev. Dr. Mark McConnell, Pastor of New Cornerstone Baptist Church, will bring the eulogy.
