Ms. Stella Louise Adams

Ms. Stella Louise Adams, 81, of Peoria, IL entered this world on June 9, 1943, in Peoria IL to her loving parents Norman F. and Anna Mae (Lucas) Dillard. She and her siblings were raised by their eternal parents Roscoe (Dot) & Glovina (Lucas) Sydnor. The Lord ordered her steps and she entered eternal life on Friday November 29, 2024 at 11: 26 am at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria IL. Stella was educated in the Peoria Public Schools and was a graduate of Manual High School. She received her nursing education from Methodist School of Nursing and was Licensed as an LPN in the State of Illinois. She was a nurse for many years and retired from Methodist Medical Center. Stella did not stay retired long as she still had the drive and perseverance to help others. She continued her commitment to helping others by using her nursing skills at the American Red Cross and PCCEO Head Start. Stella was a life member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees and organizations. She served on Church Woman United, The United Women of Faith (Formerly the United Methodist Women), Secretary, Board of Trustees, Bethel Outreach Committee and served as a Representative to the Leslie Bates Neighborhood House. She was also a member of the Lilac Club and sung in the choir. As a Short-term Missionary, Stella went on a mission’s trip to Liberia, Africa. Stella enjoyed working with the children and youth. She worked with the children’s choir and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She also worked with Bethel's Enrichment Program as a sewing instructor. She worked with the Girl Scouts Troop #687 as a Resource Person. All of these organizations were near and dear to her heart. Stella was a faithful and active member of the Silver Star Chapter #74 of the Order of Eastern Star where she was the Past Worthy Matron and served as secretary, treasurer and other positions. Stella enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, playing cards, decorating cakes and baking. She was famous for her mouth-watering Peach Cobbler and her amazing banana bread and zucchini bread. Stella has left a Legacy of Service! Stella leaves to cherish her most precious memory three children, Stella “Buffy” Adams of Rockford, IL, Darryl E. Adams of Macomb, IL and James (Tiffany) Adams, III of Memphis, TN; one brother, Larry (Ginette) Dillard, Sr., of Belle Chasse, LA; one sister, Nettie Eppinger of Peoria, IL and a beloved sister-n-law, Edith Dillard of Peoria, IL; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bobbie Dillard and infant Jerry Dillard and two sisters, Delores Thompson and Sandra Jean Evans. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at her beloved Bethel United Methodist Church with a visitation beginning at 9 am. Pastor Tyson Parks, III will officiate.
