Ms. Tonya Jean McCall

Tonya J. McCall, 49, of Peoria, IL passed away at 2:02 pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home. Tonya was born on March 1, 1967 in Peoria to Dr. W. Roscoe and Geraldine (Williams) McCall. She attended District 150 schools, graduating from Richwoods High School in 1985. She attended Illinois Central College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. She was a long-time supervisor at Illinois Central’s Childcare Connection, and also worked for many years at John Pearl Insurance Co. as an underwriter. Tonya professed faith in Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 1978, where she sang in the youth choir. Over the years, she attended other churches in Peoria, including Rising Sun Church and St. Paul Baptist Church. Tonya will be long remembered for her beauty, her sense of humor, sharp wit and keen encyclopedic memory- especially of trivial facts. She loved old movies, was a voracious reader of history and poetry, and remarkable knowledge of music and song lyrics. Tonya could be seen attending local sporting events, concerts, and community activities, and was active for many years in various community groups. She was named Ms. Black Arts Festival in 1985. She leaves to cherish her memory literally thousands of friends- many of whom have posted loving tributes to her on Facebook. Most of all, she leaves an adoring family of grieving survivors, including: Her parents, Dr. W. Roscoe and Geraldine McCall of Peoria; one son, Nicholas Beard of Riverview, FL; one daughter, Morgan Moredock of Peoria; brothers Steven (Valerie) McCall of Huntley, IL and Christopher (Tiffany) McCall of Peoria; a devoted partner, Tim Foreman of Peoria; 3 grandchildren; two nieces, Chrisa and Lia; three nephews, Cameron, Cole and Dominick; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at New Cornerstone Baptist Church with a visitation beginning two hours prior to the service at 10 am. Host Pastor, Rev. Dr. Mark A. McConnell and Officiant, Rev. Steve McCall, Pastor of Learning to Live Bible Chapel, Cary, IL. Tonya will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery.
